SKATE SCHOOL

 

Hey Everybody!
This group is started for local people who are interested in learning some downhill skateboarding techniques, looking for others to skate with, or want to find some new hills to skate on.

The format will go as follows. We will meet at The Uprise at 3:30pm every Friday afternoon and will leave to a hill around town at 4 pm. If you would like some instructions on how to learn different techniques you are welcome to ask me or any of the other more experienced skaters and they'd be glad to help. If you'd like to just tag along to skate with us or just learn of new hills in the area, you are also more then welcome to join us.

... These Friday sessions will happen rain or shine. The location of that day's session will depend on the amount, skill level, weather conditions, and other factors present.

This is intended to be a casual group of like minded skaters that mainly just want to have a good time. The best way to learn is to continue to skate.

Other than the Friday afternoon sessions there are possibilities of organizing trips to Portland and other local areas for small races or slopestyle events on weekends.

Everyone who is interested joining us is strongly advised to attend!

PUSH RACE!

Come join us for a PUSH RACE, and then a SKATE COMP with BBQ and LIVE MUSIC at the skate park afterward. The coarse is about 8 miles long and most of it is downhill or flat, but there are some uphill areas. The push race will start around 2 so meet up at THE UPRISE by 1:30 at the latest. All the entry fees will be donated to the Benton County Skateboard Alliance to help their effort to construct a new skate park bowl.

5:30 pm Community Awards and Appreciation: Announcement of winners for skateboard and graffiti competitions. Thanks to founders who started the grassroots efforts 10-years ago to create a local youth shelter for teens in crisis. Thanks to long-time supporters. And thanks to the youth who have achieved so much for themselves. Brought to you by the Jackson Street Youth Shelter!
6:30 pm Rock Music – Stairway Denied Corvallis’ own Led Zeppelin Tribute Band reunites for a good cause!

Switchbacks No.2

Time to get ready for another season of ridiculously good times out at Switchbacks! The second race of the season will be a single push format.  There will be countdown at the top and only one push will be allowed.  If you bail in a corner you will not be allowed any additional kicks, pushes, or steps once you reenter the road.  Unless there are over 40 riders, we will run double elimination.  Entry is $5. Please register at 10.  The race will begin at 11.  Wear a helmet, and plan to have fun.  This Event is brought to you in collaboration with Rip City Skate.
